Abstract

A history of the formation of criticism and critical attitude in the western world is presented. From the Greek comedy and philosophy to the genealogy elaborated by Michel Foucault, the conformation of two ways of understanding and practicing criticism is shown: one, that of the attitude of modernity, favorable to the predominance of good use of Reason; another, of confrontation and annihilation of the attitude of modernity, that is, favorable to counter-modernity. Finally, the role of anti-modernity neo-liberalism is highlighted.
