On the phenomenon of withdrawal in cases of domestic abuse

Abstract

This article aims to understand the phenomenon of withdrawal of the domestic abuse victims in criminal proceedings, from a criminological and criminal perspective. The complexity of the problem is presented in the context of the debate regarding the effectiveness of criminal proceedings in these matters. It then presents an empirical study conducted in the Bio-Bio Region, which highlights the importance of withdrawal and its underlying causes.
