Development of a proposal for the integration of Mathematics and Science in Initial Teacher Training

Abstract
Actual society demands an education that responds to the global problems that emerge every day, many of them impossible to predict. In this sense, we aim towards teacher training programs that develop competencies, allowing prospective teachers to face integrally the multiple challenges in their professional lives. Looking to this horizon, in this research a proposal of curricular adequation is implemented in the syllabus of two teacher training program’s courses with an interdisciplinary-collaborative approach through co-teaching in an educational action research of the teaching practice. Learning evidence shows the incorporation of perceptions of disciplinary integration that become progressively more complex and the development of professional teaching competencies, and also the positive evaluation of the co-teaching. Finally, there are actions recommended for the teacher training programs, to promote visions of teaching and learning adequate to the 21st century educational challenges.
