Abstract

Coordination -the most frequent syntactic structure in a semiformal interview situation- involves the use of conjunctive connectors of speech. This study provides evidence from Valdivian Spanish for the discourse function of these conjunctive lexical items. The evidence considers their placement within the discourse units of analysis: interchange, turn, speech act and the phonological suprasegmental units of intonational analysis.
