In Vitro propagation of a Chilean endangered plant species: Gomortega keule (Mol.) Baillon (Magnoliopsidae, Gomortegaceae).

Abstract

An adequate method of in vitro plant propagation of Gomortega keule (Mol.) Baillon, from mature cigotic embryos is presented. G. keule is an endangered endemic chilean species, with a high growth rate. Shoots initiation was obtained after 4 months in culture over the cotiledonar zone in an MS medium supplemented by BAP (0.1, 1 and 2 mg/l) and AIA (1 and 2 mg/l). Three months later, multiple shoots were obtained on MIII6 medium supplemented with 1 mg/l BAP, 0.01 ANA and 0.1 mg/l GA3.
