Kraft pulp with Eucalyptus globulus Labill logs in different diameters

Abstract
In the last few years, the use of broad leaves species in the production of short fiber pulp for paper has increased, motivating the study of certain species such as eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus). Chips from logs of different diameters found in a lumber yard, of a chip exporting company, were used for this study. Evaluation of the chips was based on the physica l analysis, the pulp obtained through the kraft chemical process, and the evaluation of its paper properties. The high yield (53% b.m.s.) obtained with logs of smaller diameters (8-12 cm) did not increase volume yield, influencing the decrease of total pulp production.
