Advances in the determination of causes and effects of coloured wood of Laurelia philippiana

Abstract
Laurelia philippiana (tepa ) very often presents false heartwood which has a dark colour and bad smell. While the wood of Tepa is very important for the production of plywood and for building, it is important to know what causes false heartwood and which are the effects on some wood properties. In this study bacterial attack in false heartwood was detected. The most important differences between normal wood and coloured wood were their chemical compositions.
