Perspective of Morro Moreno as a natural protected area

Abstract
Information related to vegetation, wildlife, scenic beauty, and potential for public use is presented for the area of Morro Moreno, located south of peninsula of Mejillones. The purpouse of this study is to analize the possibilities to classify the study area into the National System of Protected Wildland, and it is based on bibliographical research and field work done during October and November of 1985.
Result indicate the presence of relevant vegetational and faunistic resources, particularly related to their abundance, diversity, ecological importance, status and potential for research and education. In addition, other resources are identified, which demonstrates interesting perspectives of Morro Moreno as a natural protected area.
