Consolidation and impact of neoliberalism in Osorno during the Chilean post-dictatorship
Main Article Content
Abstract
Since 1975, Chile began the process of installing a neoliberal model, which brought with it a series of modifications and changes in Chilean society. In general, these processes have not been exhaustively reviewed in territories of a local and/or regional scale, something that would enrich the debate about them. In this context, the province of Osorno, due to its historical and social characteristics, is presented a priori as a territory of interest; to review both the process of consolidation of neoliberalism on a local scale, and its impact on the social groups that inhabit it. Therefore, through the review of local press, specifically ‘El Austral de Osorno’, and other official sources, this paper aims to contextualize this process of consolidation of neoliberalism in the province of Osorno, Chile; and its impact on its society.
