Cultural history of the Valdivia River basin: proposals from the study of prehispanic and historical potters sites

Abstract

We systematize and synthesize archaeological data about ceramic periods on the Valdivia river basin. We describe and discuss the cultural history of this wide land. Using the settlement patterns approach we suggest relations between different types of settlements on specific localities. We discuss cultural continuities and discontinuities among ceramic periods and with the Archaic times.
