The weak regulation of rural lands four decades after their liberalization

Abstract
Chilean construction laws restrict urban development in rural areas, but their acceptance of half hectare lots and subsidized housing complexes severely weaken such protection. In the absence of substantial rectifying measures, these phenomena can be partially contained by means of urban planning, territorial management, and environmental evaluation.
