Abstract

Valparaíso’s historical mapping reveals ideas for the city which had not been materialized yet when it was charted. Flat land availability and trace corrections register the appearance of the linear discourse, which allocates the initial topographic adaptation between land specialization, down town redistribution, and social specialization. This analysis aims at learning about the causes and effects of change, concluding whether the projects can be explained by the plans that promoted them and the basis of this performance under current development prospects in a district with urban heritage.
