Analysis of Contemporary Urban Design in Latin America
Main Article Content
Abstract
In the past 30 years, large urban projects are being developed in different contexts resulting in the regeneration of formerly degraded areas of the urban weave. In some Latin American cities, large urban projects are being developed to recover parts of the urban fabric that have become degraded with time or city areas abandoned because they no longer satisfied the needs of the so called global economy. These large underutilized and neglected areas resulted in unsafe and degraded landscapes. In this context, urban projects have become critical for the transformation of the existing urban environment. This research is aimed at discussing and understanding large urban projects launched since the eighties through urban tools consistent with local territories and realities, with the specific aim of discussing the actions foreseen in the projects.
