Economic evaluation ot the agricultural tractors sold in Chile

Abstract

An economic evaluation of the actual supply of agricultural tractors in Chile was carried out. The evaluated models were classified into three groups according to their origin: USA-Western Europe (USA-WE); Brasil-Argentina (B-A); and Eastem Europe-Russia-China (EE-R-C). The evaluation was carried out using the Equivalent Animal Cost (EAC) in UF (monetary unit of constant adquisitive power-its value is calculated daily on the basis of the Consumer Price Index). The hourly cost, cost per unit of power, cost per unit of energy and cost per worked area were also determined.
A supply of 15 trademarks with 95 models from 10 countries was found, for an annual average sale of 2,082 units in the last decade (39% larger than the historic mean of 1,440 units). The largest supply comes from USA-WE (53%), followed by B-A (30%), and finally EE-R-C (17%). The largest EAC corresponded to the models from USA-WE (267-602 UF/year), followed by the models from B-A (245-511 UF/year). and the models from EE-R-C (125-319 UF/year).
